Informix Ultimate Warehouse Edition includes the Informix Warehouse Accelerator (IWA), which leverages a columnar approach to accelerate warehouse queries 100 times over or more. The tight links between IWA and transaction-oriented Informix systems offer the ability to integrate analytic business insights into operational processes.

For very large data warehouses, the high-availability secondary servers of an Informix MACH11 environment can now be used to accelerate queries, as well as administering and loading data marts. Secondary servers are perfectly suited for dealing with the rather static data in data marts. By connecting secondary servers to the Informix Warehouse Accelerator, companies gain greater flexibility in a mixed-workload environment, leaving primary servers free to exclusively handle OLTP. The result is increased availability and throughput for all servers in the high-availability cluster.
